Shih-Yuan Wang

Shih-Yuan Wang is a researcher at SINLAB, where he is currently writing his PhD thesis. His research aims at the notion of transient materialisation with a specific focus on material performance pursuing immaterial architecture. After graduating from chair for CAAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design) ETH Zurich, Shih-Yuan worked as an intern architect at Hosoya Schaefer Architects in Zurich (2008) and research assistant at CODELAB, Curtin University in Perth (2012). In addition, he has taught and lectured digital design studios or workshops at University Innsbruck (the institute for experimental architecture.hochbau Univ.-Prof Patrik Schumacher),Tamkang University, Yuan Ze University, and Feng Chia University in Austria and Taiwan (2009-2011). Currently, he is also a co-founder of Actuating Geometry in Design (AGD), based in Taipei, a platform that brings together architects, designers, scientists, and researchers who share new potential in architecture.

Selena Savic

Selena Savic, (RS) is an artist and architect from Belgrade. Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, university of Belgrade in 2006, at the department for Urban Planning and from the Media Design department at the Piet Zwart Institutein Rotterdam in 2010. While in Belgrade, worked at the Research Centre (IPC) at the Faculty of Architecture on urban plans, and in DAAM studio for architecture as an associate. Besides architecture, Selena Savić actively pursues

a critical media practice, treating the questions of the city, media and systems in general. Her work was presented at exhibitions and festivals like Cellsbutton (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), TestLab_Invisible Cities (V2, Rotterdam), Pixelache (Helsinki), Hack.Fem.East (Künslterhaus Bethanien, Berlin) Kosmopolis (Barcelona), and numerous other exhibitions in Belgrade, Brussels, Stockholm, Rotterdam, The Hague and Vienna. Since September 2011 she is working on her doctoral research, within the Joint Doctoral Initiative, at the Federal Technical Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland (EPFL) and the Technical Institute in Lisbon, Portugal (IST).Website:

Andrew Sempere

Andrew Sempere (USA) is an artist, designer and researcher who most recently worked at the IBM Research Center for Social Software in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Andrew holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Masters of Science from the MIT Media Lab. Andrew is also a trustee of the Boston Awesome Foundation, an organization that gives micro-grants for small projects which “further the cause of awesome in the universe.” His artworks have been seen at venues around the US and Canada, including the 2005 Bumbershoot Music Festival, Siggraph, Boston Cyberarts, and the 7th Manifestation Internationale Vidéo et Art Électronique. Chris Ziegler

Chris Ziegler (D), Chris Ziegler is New Media Artist and Director since early 1990‘s of numerous international collaborations of interdisciplinary projects in the field of new media with the performing arts, with a Masters degree in Architecture at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He also studied Media Art at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. 1994 he started developing multimedia projects at the Center for Art and Media ZKM Karlsruhe for Frankfurt Ballett and Goethe Institute. He also worked in collaboration with other artists like Bill Seaman, developing interactive installations like “Passage Sets” which won a Prix Ars Electronica in 1995. Since 1999 he is showing his own work at ZKM Karlsruhe, the Centre Pompidou Paris, KIASMA Helsinki, YCAM Performance Center Yamagucchi Japan and other places. He is researcher in new media and dance, teaches and conducts workshops internationaly. 2007 he co-curated with Nike Wagner at the Artfestival Weimar the first DanceMedia Academy. 2001 he received the „Young Art and New Media Award“ in Munich, was Nominee for the Monaco Dance Forum Award 2006 and won the I.D. Design Bronze Awards 2000 and Silver Award 2001 and „New Voices New Visions“, New York 1996. As Associate Artist in the EU‘s Dance Apprentices Network Across Europe (D.A.N.C.E.) he worked with Europe‘s leading choreographers Frédéric Flamand, William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor and Angelin Preljocaj. Since 2009 he is teaching at the „Interface Cultures“ Department of the Art-University Linz, Austria. Michael Lew

Michael Lew (CH) is a media artist and research engineer, with backgrounds in electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, performance and filmmaking. As a Research Fellow at the MIT Media Lab Europe in Dublin, Ireland (2001-2004), he started investigating the question : “what happens to the film form when the medium becomes computational?”. There he developed real-time editing engines for interactive film, expressive interfaces for live cinema improvisation and multi-track video samplers for the performing arts. He is a consultant on visionary technologies for film, video games, performance and architecture. His work has been shown or performed in electronic art festivals and residencies across Europe, Asia and the Americas. He received an award from the Montréal Festival of New Cinema and New Media in 2003 for his interactive video installation «Office Voodoo». As one of Europe’s early VJs, he often performs in clubs and festivals, although he prefers to call it «live experimental video». Michael obtained his M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from EPFL in 2000, with a thesis on multi-agent systems from the AI Lab & Motorola Labs in Paris, France, for which he was awarded the Logitech prize. In 2004, he moved to Hollywood, California, to be an Adjunct Professor and Visiting Artist at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. At ISEA 2006, he curated the program «Live Cinema Nights». In 2007, he returned to Switzerland and founded his own film production company and interactive media design studio. Michael regularly publishes, teaches and lectures about computational cinema.
